High’s opened its newest location June 7 in Gambrills, Md.
The High’s brand was established in 1928. The ice cream store chain grew rapidly throughout the mid-Atlantic states. At one time, there were more than 500 locations, making High’s the largest ice cream store chain in the world.
In 2012, Carroll Independent Fuel LLC acquired High’s and began to build off of the strong heritage that everyone knows and loves. Today, High’s is a chain of 49 convenience stores run by a team of 500.
In 2018, High’s partnered with the Three Sixty Group to undergo a brand revitalization project. The new Gambrills, Md. location is the first store to have all elements from the project, including a brand-new logo and floor plan.
The new store, which has 12 fueling positions at the gas island, is 4870 square feet and will be open 24 hours a day.
The store will showcase a wide selection of High’s signature food offerings, including hand-breaded chicken, handmade pizza and hand-dipped ice cream, as well as various other fresh, to-go food options.
In addition, the store will carry a wide selection of convenience items such as High’s Heritage Ice Cream in a take-home package. It will also feature several new technology upgrades, such as a frictionless payment option through SKIP and touchscreen ordering systems. The store boasts a new, bright image.
There is now an expanded beverage area that features several hand-crafted beverages, such as coffee, cappuccino, fresh bubbler drinks and fountain drinks.
The grand opening celebration will take place June 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set to start at 11:15 a.m. followed by a sundae-building contest.
The first 150 customers to visit the store will receive a free High’s mug, as well as a chance to enter for a raffle prize. Several vendors will be on-site passing out samples alongside of the High’s team. Ice cream and chicken samples will also be available. The High’s cow will also be on-site all day helping to “keep the herd motivated.”
