SweetSnacksLogo(1)IRI’s company leadership will offer key insights into the sweets and snacks industry at this years Sweets & Snacks Expo.

Two of IRI’s company leaders are scheduled to present the latest candy and snacks insights at the annual NCA Sweets & Snacks Expo. Sally Lyons Wyatt, executive vice president & practice leader, consumer shopper insights, and Larry Levin, executive vice president, business development, will be presenting.

In her session, “The State of the Snack Industry 2016,” Lyons Wyatt will share insight on current and emerging trends in snacking, along with key growth opportunities on which brands can capitalize. Levin’s session, “Activating Seasons Beyond Seasons,” will focus on how manufacturers can go beyond the main candy-associated holidays to bolster category growth year-round.

Similar to the rest of the CPG industry, snacking continues to evolve. U.S. consumers have made snacking a way of life, thus requiring manufacturers to know the consumer mindset and behavior associated with it. Marketers can apply this knowledge to better understand how consumers are interacting with and shopping the category and, therefore, tailor their efforts accordingly.

Today, the confectionery market is driven by four main holidays: Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas. However, CPG manufacturers are in a position to grow the category by extending their efforts beyond the “Big Four.” Through a change in positioning and leveraging candy as an item people associate with celebrating, regardless of the occasion, manufacturers can find sweet rewards.

The 2016 Sweets & Snacks Expo is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Chicago’s McCormick Place West Building. Lyons Wyatt’s presentation will take place from 1-2 p.m. and Levin’s will occur from 2-3 p.m.
