Funds to benefit breast cancer patients in the community.

Westminster, Md.-based Jiffy Mart, a division of Tevis Oil Inc., recently donated $4,000 to the Center for Breast Health on Jan. 19 to benefit breast cancer patients at Carroll Hospital Center.

Employees from Jiffy Mart locations throughout Carroll County presented a check to Brenda Frazier, Carroll Hospital Center Foundation director of development, and Dona Hobart, M.D., medical director of Carroll Hospital Center’s Center for Breast Health.

The monies were raised during a month-long fundraiser held at all four Jiffy Mart locations in October. Jiffy Mart stores in Finksburg, Hampstead and Westminster sold items such as pink pins, pink bracelets and pink car magnets, and change collectors were placed on the counters for customers to donate their loose change. In addition, Jiffy Mart donated 10 cents for each 16-ounce cup of coffee that was sold in the stores.

Dwayne Cover, business manager for Jiffy Mart, said they regularly hold fundraisers and chose the Center for Breast Health to make this donation because they wanted to support a worthy cause that would benefit people locally in the community.

“We like to do a lot of fundraisers and try to give back to the customers that are taking care of us day in and day out,” he said.

“We are truly appreciative of Jiffy Mart’s generosity and support,” said Frazier. “The long-standing support of the hospital has and will continue to have a huge positive impact on the quality of care we provide.”

Carroll Hospital Center is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering the latest in medical technology, experienced medical professionals in a variety of specialties and a continuum of programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
