Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. opened its newest Neighborhood Shop in Wake Forest, N.C., this morning, Wednesday, July 7, at 6 a.m.

The 2,000-square-foot Neighborhood shop includes a drive-thru and features Krispy Kreme’s unique product offerings, which include its signature hot Original Glazed doughnuts and other unique doughnut varieties; signature coffees and espresso drinks; and Krispy Kreme Chillers and iced beverages. The new shop also offers Krispy Kreme’s Kool Kreme soft serve menu of traditional cones, shakes and specialty doughnut sundaes, paired with a toppings bar.

At 6 a.m. today, as part of the grand opening celebration, the first customer in line received one free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts every week for a year; the next 11 customers each received one free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts each month for a year; and the first 100 customers each received an official Krispy Kreme Wake Forest T-shirt. Complimentary sampling of Krispy Kreme products is taking place throughout the day.

“This new Krispy Kreme Neighborhood Shop will be one more convenient location for our customers in the Triangle market,” said Cindy Bay, senior vice president of company store operations for Krispy Kreme. “We believe our new Wake Forest shop will be a great addition to this thriving community and will allow our fans who live and work in eastern Wake County to enjoy our one-of-a-kind products.”

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 10:30 a.m. and is expected to feature the Wake Forest store’s general manager, Elle Larue, as well as Krispy Kreme executives, including Cindy Bay and Steve Wymer, market manager for North Carolina. Dignitaries from the Town of Wake Forest, such as Mayor Vivian Jones of Wake Forest, also plan to participate.

The grand opening celebration will continue on Sunday, July 11, with a Krispy Kreme social from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
