Program held in conjunction with Salvation Army provides warmth to the needy.

Thanks to the help of Lacrosse, Wis. Kwik Trip, the Salvation Army’s annual Coats for Kids program is underway.

The program collects coats for the needy. Donors drop off coats at local Kwik Trip stores, where they are then taken and distributed. Despite the name of the program, the coats go to people of all ages.

Last year, they distributed more than 2300 coats and winter wear items for those in need, and they’re hoping for a similar turnout this year, reported WKBT news.

“We know it’s important,” says Salvation Army Development Director Wendy Franke.”We know we’ve already started to have a lot of people come through the building or call us that are asking for warm coats and different items like that because it’s gotten colder outside.”
