“We are fortunate to be able to make this contribution. I am proud of our employees who stepped up during this time of disaster and helped people in great need,” says Love’s CEO.

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores plans to donate $150,000 to local chapters of the United Way to help Joplin, Mo., and communities throughout Oklahoma recover and rebuild from recent devastating tornadoes.

The funds will assist the immediate need in Joplin, after it was hit with one of the deadliest storms in history. Love’s home state of Oklahoma was also recently hit with tornadoes, causing damage throughout the state and in several communities Love’s serves.

“Our hearts go out to those who were affected by these tornadoes. Love’s has been impacted by tornadoes in our history, so we know what it’s like to rebuild,” said Tom Love, chairman and CEO. “We are fortunate to be able to make this contribution. I am proud of our employees who stepped up during this time of disaster and helped people in great need.”

The Love’s located in Joplin remained open during the storms. The store donated batteries and flashlights to a local hospital that was directly hit by a tornado. They also donated water to a community shelter.

Love’s donation will be directed toward two United Way agencies. Heart of Missouri United Way will receive $100,000. United Way of Central Oklahoma will receive $50,000.

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores operates more than 265 locations and 90 tire care centers in 39 states.
