Majors Management has broadened its portfolio once again with the announcement that it has acquired four Mac’s Food Stores in Aberdeen, Pinehurst and Southern Pines, N.C., from McNeill Oil Co.
“This was a difficult decision, as these locations have been part of our company for decades,” said Frank McNeill, president of McNeill Oil. “However, we were fortunate to work with a partner like Majors Management. Their experience, professionalism, and speed allowed us to finalize this transaction smoothly and efficiently.”
The acquisition is a strategic one for Majors, as it continues to focus on expanding its presence in key markets, the company noted in a statement. By expanding its c-store market, it is doubling down on its goal of “delivering high-quality fuel and exceptional service to communities in North Carolina and across its multi-state footprint,” the statement continued.
“We are thrilled to strengthen our footprint in North Carolina by adding these sites to our growing network,” said Ben Smith, president of Majors. “It was a privilege to work closely with the McNeill team to complete this transaction quickly and seamlessly. Our shared priority has been to ensure there was no disruption to business or customers.”
Building a Footprint
This is not a new strategy for Majors, as in recent years, the operator has doubled down on its commitment to building out its c-store network.
Most notably, in November 2023, Majors was involved in a massive divestment from COPEC, through which the company acquired 192 MAPCO sites, with Couche-Tard joining in to pick up an additional 112 stores.
The MAPCO stores were located throughout Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Arkansas and Kentucky.
Mirroring Majors’ current philosophy, Smith remarked at the time that the acquisition fit in with the company’s long-term growth plan, which is still being carried out in 2025.
“The acquisition of MAPCO aligns perfectly with our long-term growth and expansion plans,” said Smith at the time of the transaction. “We are confident that this transaction will bring together the strengths and expertise of two industry leaders to better serve the evolving needs of customers and markets. We are committed to growing the MAPCO brand and loyalty program and keeping MAPCO’s highest standards of service and quality to customers.”
Today, Majors supplies fuel to more than 1,400 c-stores across Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
