Marathon Petroleum Corp.’s Illinois Refining Division and its local partners participated in the United Way Days of Caring.
The three-day event is one of the largest community service days of the year for the county, with more than 125 volunteers completing nearly 750 volunteer hours.
Volunteers from other local businesses including First Robinson Savings Bank, SENCO Construction, Lincoln Land Energy and each school district provided their craft specialization for several of the improvement projects.
“We are thankful for the local businesses that support the Days of Caring and pull our community together,” said United Way of Crawford County Board Member Bryan Barbee. “This is the 6th year, and our largest service day yet. Events like this make Crawford County a great place to call home.”
Each school district showed appreciation by providing lunch for the local volunteers, many putting in a full day of assistance.
Community projects focused on revitalization of several local schools, enhancing public parks and finishing several projects for UW supported organizations.
“So many of us have been blessed with a career that provides everything we need, I feel it is our responsibility to give what we can to help our community,” said United Way Committee Lead Amanda Higgins.
