Michigan’s Petroleum Association and the Association of Convenience Stores held its annual spring convention and trade show last week as Michigan lawmakers considered new taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel, which the group opposes, WZZM13 News reported.
The convention’s educational sessions covered topics ranging from the state of health care to preventing recession theft and shoplifting, but the rising cost of fuel was among the most popular topics at the convention.
“We share the customers’ concern about high gas prices,” said Mark Griffin, president of the Michigan Petroleum Association. “We’d much rather see the price go down than up—the more money the customer has in their pocket to come inside our stores and buy convenience store items that we sell.”
The convention ran from March 23-25.
