Crain’s Chicago Business reported this week that the headquarters for MillerCoors will be located in either Chicago or Dallas, and not Milwaukee.

MillerCoors has been looking for 100,000 to 150,000 square feet of space in Chicago, and could employ as many as 400 people at the home office, according to the business journal.

MillerCoors is looking at three specific sites in downtown Chicago, including the landmark former Carson Pirie Scott & Co. building, Crain’s reported, quoting unidentified real estate sources.

MillerCoors spokesman Julian Green declined to comment on the specifics of the search, and told the publication, "We are actively engaged in the search.”

MillerCoors is the result of a merger between Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing Co. (and London-based SABMiller) and Coors Brewing Co., of Golden, Colo., a subsidiary of Molson Coors Brewing Co. The companies merged officially on July 1, and the resulting entity now has about 900 employees.
