NACS is looking for c-store retailers to complete an eight-question survey that would help give Congress more data about the impact debit and credit card usage has on retail operations.

The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure (CARD) Act of 2009, was signed into law this May, and contains measures that would strengthen consumer protection in the credit card market. It also will help ensure accountability from both credit card issuers and regulators who are responsible for preventing unfair practices and enforcing protections. As part of that goal, GAO is investigating the payment card markets and will deliver a full report to Congress by January.

NACS is working with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to collect accurate data on retail operations. The aggregated data from the survey will be shared with GAO, but no specific individual company information will be revealed.

NACS will be sending e-mails to retail executives this week with a link to the survey, but encourages all retailers to participate.
