Gas station chain Lukoil blamed water contamination for bad gas that was sold at seven or more gas stations in New Jersey this week, WCBS television in New Jersey reported.

The contaminated gas left dozens of motorists stranded, and some estimates said 75 cars died on highways and roads all across New Jersey as a result of the problem.

Lukoil representatives said they’re accepting full responsibility for the contaminated gasoline, and customers were advised to contact Lukoil for help with towing, repairs and reimbursements.
