NOCO Express recently celebrated the grand opening of its newly rebuilt store located at 1898 Whitehaven Road in Grand Island, N.Y.

The former 950-square-foot store has been replaced with a brand new 4,000-square-foot store to accommodate the needs of today’s on-the-go customers.

Open 24 hours daily, the new store features Nickel City foods, a prepared food service offering with a variety of meal options for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack. U-Swirl Frozen Yogurt is the only frozen yogurt shop on Grand Island, and provides customers up to 20 non-fat flavors and more than 60 toppings to choose from. Customers serve themselves and pay per ounce. An expanded selection of grocery and beverage items are also available. The new store features both indoor and outdoor seating along with free Wi-Fi.

“The newly rebuilt store features NOCO’s latest layout and amenities,” said Jim DeFilippis, general manager, NOCO Express. “Our customers expect a variety of on-the-go items from their local convenience store and we are excited to introduce to the Grand Island community a store that offers more than just a place to fill up their gas tanks.”

The Grand Island store was constructed with several environmentally friendly building technologies to reduce energy consumption. These include low watt LED lighting, a refrigeration energy management system, and white roofing for increased light reflectivity. A light harvesting system was installed utilizing 16 skylights that allow natural light into the store. There is an energy management control system that automatically dims the store lighting fixtures during the peak daylight hours on an as needed basis. Outside of the new NOCO Express, customers can choose from one of ten fueling stations. Diesel and E85 fuels are also available.

NOCO hired six new employees to accommodate the customer needs of the new store, bringing the total workforce to 12 employees. NOCO Express operates 37 stores throughout Western New York, including its newly rebuilt Grand Island location.
