Pilot Corp. and Food City are building a new $10 million fuel terminal in Knoxville, Tenn., the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

The facility will procure and distribute gasoline, diesel, ethanol and aviation fuel to Food City Gas’n’Go Fuel Centers in Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia, and to Pilot Convenience Stores and Pilot Travel Centers in the region.

“Our fuel centers have become an important convenience for our customers,” Food City President and CEO Steve Smith said in a statement. “This facility will allow us to better service our customer’s needs.”

Construction is set to begin immediately, and the facility will be built at an existing terminal complex on Middlebrook Pike in Knoxville, Tenn. The project will create up to 10 to 15 new jobs.

Jimmy Haslam, CEO of Pilot Corp., told the Knoxville News Sentinel the collaboration would “better service the fuel needs of our customers while creating jobs and supporting the local economy.”
