By teaming with Truckers to Triathletes (T2T), Pilot Flying J intends to develop ideas and strategies for better health to share with even more professional drivers.

Pilot Flying J is promoting better health for truck drivers through the sponsorship of the Revolution 3 Triathlon on Sunday, Oct. 14, in Anderson, S.C., and continued sponsorship of four drivers from Truckers to Triathletes (T2T) who will participate in the event.

Pilot Flying J first sponsored a group of T2T athletes for the Rev3 Triathlon in Portland, Ore., in July. For the Anderson event, Pilot Flying J will continue sponsoring these professional drivers, who have now intensified their training and are working towards a Half Rev (70.3 miles) or an Olympic Rev (31.9 miles).

The Rev 3 Triathlon will take place at Darwin Wright Park on Lake Hartwell in Anderson, S.C., starting at 7 a.m. Sunday.

By teaming up with Truckers to Triathletes (T2T), Pilot Flying J intends to develop ideas and strategies regarding better health to share with even more professional drivers.

The Pilot Flying J-sponsored T2T athletes include:

•            John Schneidewind—The first Trucker to Triathlete (T2T), he and his son both dropped 50 pounds while training for their first triathlon in 2009, even after working 12 hours each day. In his eighth Tri event, Schneidewind will participate in the swimming leg of the Half Rev.

•            Jason Stringer—Stringer did his first triathlon June 9. Born with stub fingers, he is very excited about his newest pastime of triathlon training and will be doing the bicycling leg of the relay.

•            Steve Johnson—An ex-army helicopter pilot and a newlywed father of two, Johnson has been training hard for a marathon and will do the running leg of the triathlon. This is his fourth Tri.

•            Bret Wright—Married with two children, Wright trains while he works and commutes 12-14 hours a day. He will be competing in a full Olympic Rev.

In addition to the T2T teams, a relay team of long haul drivers from Prime Inc. will be driving their 18-wheelers right up to the starting line and then competing in the Rev3 Triathlon.

Headquartered in Knoxville, Tenn., Pilot Flying J has over 600 retail locations.
