The convenience store chain boosts its starting salary as it continues to focus on investing in its employees.
As of Feb. 1, QuickChek has raised its starting salary to $10 an hour. The move follows other convenience store chains, such as Sheetz, Wawa and Rutter’s, that have announced increased wages for employees as chains look to attract top talent.
The new $10 an hour starting salary is more than $1.50 higher than the state minimum wage of $8.38. QuickChek’s starting pay has been above the New Jersey and New York state minimums for the past eight years.
NJ.com reported that the move is part of QuickChek’s focus on investing in employees, a strategy that also includes tuition reimbursement and career advancement. The chain originally announced its plans for the pay increase in January.
Family-owned QuickChek employs more than 3,500 team members at its 143 retail locations throughout New Jersey, New York’s Hudson Valley and Long Island.
Full-time employees at QuickChek are also offered medical, dental and vision to life insurance, a 401k savings plan, fitness center reimbursement and even pet insurance.
