Indiana-based Ricker’s Convenience Stores is offering a safe place to victims of domestic violence.

According to a report from The Elkhart Truth, all Ricker’s Convenience Stores in Hamilton County, Ind., north of Indianapolis, have joined the “Safe Haven” initiative. As a part of the movement, these stores will display stickers in their windows, identifying themselves as safe places for victims.

If someone feels that they are in danger from domestic violence, they can go to any of the stores displaying the stickers to seek help. The employees have been trained to either call 911 or the victim advocacy group Alternatives Inc. The appropriate action will then be taken to ensure the victim’s safety.

All Anderson, Ind.-based Ricker’s locations implemented this program in 2003, and its success calls for the new expansion.
