Kathy Wallick doesn’t consider herself a lucky person, and her family members won’t even let her touch lottery tickets for fear she’ll have a negative effect on them.
But if you want proof that her luck has changed, consider this: Wallick is the first grand-prize winner in Rutter’s Farm Stores’ gas giveaway, the company said. The North York waitress will receive free gasoline for the next three years.
“It’s going to be great,” Wallick said, adding that she’s been spending more than $60 every two weeks to fill up her Dodge Stratus.
Rutter’s formally presented the “Fuel Up Free!” prize to Wallick with an event this morning at a Manchester Township store. Wallick was joined by her husband, Paul, as well as sons Dannon, Dakota and Devon.
The gas giveaway began May 26 and runs through Aug. 24. Four Rutter’s customers – Wallick being the first – win free gas for three years as part of the promotion, with the remaining grand-prize drawings scheduled for July 14, Aug. 4 and Sept. 15.
Family-owned and third generation-managed, Rutter’s operates 52 c-stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
