The new wine selection is located near the beer cave and offers convenience store shoppers a range of options.
York, Pa.-based Rutter’s is growing its wine business.
The second and third Rutter’s locations to sell wine started sales Friday, April 28.
The Leola Rutter’s is the first convenience store in Lancaster County to start selling wine. The Richland Avenue Rutter’s is the second convenience store (after the Newberrytown Rutter’s) to start wine sales.
Rutter’s wine section is set up near the Beer Caves and features an array of brands. Rutter’s wine stores carry varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and others. In accordance with PA Law Act 39, Rutter’s customers will be able to purchase up to 3,000ml (3 liters) of wine.
This equates to four standard bottles (750-milliters) and two large bottles (1.5 liters). Wine sale hours will differ from beer, in conformity with Act 39: Monday thru Saturday from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.
“We are so excited how quickly we are able to add wine to our beer locations. We hope and plan to keep this momentum going by adding wine to more stores as we expand the level of convenience for our customers. As the display says, ‘there’s always time for wine!’” said Robert Perkins, vice president of marketing.
