C-store operator Rutter’s Farm Stores has donated $3,000 to three charitable organizations near its convenience store in Swartara Township to commemorate the store’s Oct. 10 opening.

“Part of our responsibility as a company is to give back to the communities that support Rutter’s,” said Scott Hartman, president and CEO of Rutter’s Farm Stores. “We’re proud to make contributions to these worthy organizations.”

The charity recipients each received $1,000. They included:

  • Hummelstown Food Bank, to help it provide Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for 85 families;
  • Rutherford Heights Youth Club in Swatara Township, for its ongoing needs, including new baseball and basketball equipment;
  • Dauphin County’s New Beginnings program, for its youth leadership committee. The program holds monthly meetings in Harrisburg, Pa.

    Family-owned and third generation-managed, the Rutter’s companies include Rutter’s Farm Stores, Rutter’s Dairy and M&G Realty. The companies employ more than 1,400 people in central Pennsylvania.
