“We believe strongly in our business model, so we have been investing in new stores and remodeling existing stores,” says CEO of Rutter’s Holdings Inc.

Rutter’s Holdings Inc. advanced its spot on the Central Penn Business Journal’s 2011 list of Top 100 Private Companies, rising to No. 2, the company announced today.

Posting $585 million in total revenue in 2010, a 17% increase over 2009, Rutter’s, which was CSD’s 2010 Convenience Store Chain of the Year, jumped from No. 3 on the list of central Pennsylvania companies just one year ago. This year, Rutter’s attained the No. 1 ranking among privately held companies in York County, Pa., as well.

Also contributing to the company’s staying power atop the list of 100 local companies is Rutter’s ability to continually increase revenue despite dismal economic times, showing nearly 33% growth over the last three years.

“Part of it is the rise in commodity prices, given that we are a heavy commodities business,” said Scott Hartman, CEO of Rutter’s Holdings Inc, the parent company to Rutter’s Farm Stores to which Hartman also serves as president. “We believe strongly in our business model, so we have been investing in new stores and remodeling existing stores,” he continued.

Rutter’s Dairy is headed by Todd Rutter as president and M&T Realty is led by Tim Rutter as president.

Rutter’s Holdings Inc. is a 3rd-generation family-owned business that operates 56 convenience stores in five counties in central Pennsylvania, as well as dairy operations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
