Rutter’s Farm Stores unveiled its latest store design this past week, a 5,200-square-foot ecofriendly site in Springettsburry Township in York County, Pa.
The North Hills Road store features a modern, environmentally friendly design with a white roof to cool the building and reduce energy demand, the company said. It’s the first of 10 new stores the company is planning in a year of record expansion.
The new store’s interior features open ceilings and makes liberal use of floor and wall tiles that extend into bathrooms with floating ceilings, music and other upscale accents. Other amenities include 18 fueling positions, a self-serve premium-coffee island, seating and a no-fee M&T Bank ATM.
The store also features Rutter’s latest foodservice offerings, including custom stir-fry, fajitas and fresh-baked bread. Rutter’s customers can design their own oriental bowls by choosing among chicken, beef and pork, as well as fried or white rice, noodles and veggies. They can also select various toppings and dressings. Sub and cibatta rolls are offered in a total of seven varieties and are available for sandwiches or individual retail purchase.
Ink Byers is manager at the new 24-hour store, while Sue Shiffer is deli manager.

Rutter’s said it’s in the midst of the most ambitious growth plans in its 40-year history. The company will invest more than $55 million this year to build 10 stores and 11 car washes, which will add 350 new jobs and more than $4.5 million in annual wages and benefits to the area economy.
The Family-owned and third generation-managed company is based Manchester Township, Pa. It operates 52 c-stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
