New stores in West Virginia and North Carolina welcomed customers for the first time Thursday.

Sheetz opened two new stores on Jan. 26.

One store opened in Beckley, W.Va.—marking the second store in the area—and the other in McGee’s Crossroads near Benson, N.C., located at 13433 NC Highway 210. Doors officially open to customers Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in Benson, and at 3 p.m. in Beckley.

Excitement for the stores was heightened with a contest for the first 50 people in line when the doors open.  These lucky customers won a $100 Sheetz Z-card–good for anything in the store. The buzz about Sheetz has gotten people out of bed to camp out at as early as 3:30 a.m. at stores recently opened in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and North Carolina.  Customers also played games to win prizes and enjoy samples of Sheetz food and beverages.

“People are lined up and waiting when we get to the store to cut the ribbon,” said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO, Sheetz, Inc.  “We can’t wait to serve new customers and work to give them the best ever experience in our stores.  We love to see them being as excited as we are to open.”

The opening of the stores is great economic news as well.  Both stores employ approximately 40 people each, including management positions.  The Beckley location measures 7,000 square feet, has indoor seating for customers and is the 38th Sheetz location in West Virginia. The Benson store is first in Johnston County and the 35th in North Carolina for Sheetz and is almost 6,500 square feet in size.

Sheetz continues to proudly support Special Olympics and will make a donation to Special Olympics North Carolina and to the  Special Olympics West Virginia as part of the celebrations.

The new locations both offer fresh food items like the MTGo! And Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, donuts and muffins, along with the signature MTO line of Angus beef burgers, premium grilled chicken sandwiches, freshly made salads, French fries, onion rings and more.

Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso and smoothie bar staffed by a trained barista is going to be available at the new stores. Customers can order hand-made specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and mochas – hot, frozen or iced.

“Sheetz has a legacy of innovation, customer focus and employee development,” Sheetz said.  “The company’s mission today is meeting the needs of customers on the go by providing fast and friendly service, quality products in clean and convenient locations.”
