“The fact that this is the 10th year in a row that our employees have rated us so highly says a lot about our culture and the spirit of teamwork and respect that exists throughout our company,” says Sheetz’ CEO.

Sheetz Inc. has been named one of 2011’s Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.

This is the 10th year in a row Sheetz has made the list as part of a statewide employer recognition program sponsored by The Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Central Penn Business Journal.

Sheetz is one of only three companies to have the honor of making the list for 10 straight years. The awards program, created in 2000, is one of the first statewide programs of its kind in the country to recognize the best places to be employed.

“Receiving this type of recognition is particularly important to us because, the most significant piece of the rating comes directly from our employees who were independently surveyed and asked to rate our company as a place to work,” said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO, Sheetz Inc. “The fact that this is the 10th year in a row that our employees have rated us so highly says a lot about our culture and the spirit of teamwork and respect that exists throughout our company, from top management to our employees who directly serve our customers.”

Sheetz also has been selected as a Best Place to Work in Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina. Other states where Sheetz operates – Maryland and West Virginia currently do not have this type of recognition.

To be considered for the ranking, companies had to meet stringent requirements. Companies from across the state were evaluated in a two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. The first part of this process was to evaluate each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation.

The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. The Best Places to Work in PA project is a statewide program managed by Best Companies Group.
