After a career of more than 33-years, Frank Glaviano Sr. is retiring from Shell Oil Company effective Nov. 30.

As vice-president of production for Shell’s Americas Region, Glaviano held accountability for assets and operations in the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina.

In the coming months, he will provide advice and assist in the transition to the new Shell Upstream Americas Deepwater business, working with the New Orleans-based leadership team and John Hollowell, who succeeds Glaviano as executive vice president.

A native of New Orleans and graduate of Tulane University, Glaviano began his career as a production engineer, working several major assets in the Gulf of Mexico. He has contributed to Shell’s Exploration and Production business in many capacities and has held numerous engineering and operations leadership positions in Houston, New Orleans and Traverse City, Michigan.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he led the efforts to restore Shell’s producing assets and championed the return of 1,000 employees to One Shell Square. He also became deeply involved in many organizations and activities to aid in the New Orleans Region’s recovery during the past four years. His service caught attention and he was recognized by Gambit as “New Orleanian of the Year – 2006” for his leadership and hurricane recovery efforts.

Glaviano will continue to serve as chairman of the United Way of Greater New Orleans and the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation. He has also served as Chairman of the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA), a position he will leave in September. In addition, he acted as Shell’s representative to the New Orleans Business Council and on the boards of the local chapter of the Volunteers of America, Greater New Orleans Inc. and Holy Cross High School.
