As sale to private investment firm and BP closes, Matt Thornton exists as CEO.
Simon Richards, former head of regional development for BP Products North America, is taking the helm as the new CEO of Thorntons.
Richards succeeds longtime chairman and CEO Matt Thornton. The move comes as private investment firm Arclight Capital Partners and BP closed on the joint acquisition of Thorntons. The acquisition closed on Feb. 11.
According to a report in the Courier-Journal other top executives at the Louisville headquarters are expected to remain.
The sale of Thorntons was previously announced in December to the joint venture between private equity firm ArcLight Capital Partners and BP. The Thorntons banner will remain on the 191 stores in the six states where it operates.
