Smoker Friendly recently announced two promotions within its executive leadership team. Cameron Schwehr has been named vice president of finance and accounting, and Jon Gallagher as controller.
“Cameron and Jon have worked closely as finance and accounting colleagues since 2021,” the company noted in a LinkedIn post. “They will continue to grow the business through their close collaboration.”
Cameron Schwehr graduated from the University of Kansas in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He worked in public accounting for 14 years, primarily as an auditor and consultant with nonprofit, construction and retail companies.
Smoker Friendly worked with Schwehr as a contractor for six of those years before hiring him as controller in 2021. Schwehr has been a CPA in the state of Colorado since 2013 and previously held a CPA license in the state of Washington as well as a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (“CCIFP”) accreditation.
“Coming from public accounting, I really didn’t have any expectations as to what it would be like moving my family from Washington to Colorado to work for Smoker Friendly,” said Schwehr. “But I put my trust in my relationships within the company and made the move. Smoker Friendly has doubled in size since I started almost four years ago and I’m excited for the chance to foster an environment of continued growth and innovation for the IT and Accounting teams.”
Jon Gallagher, nephew to Smoker Friendly President Dan Gallagher, CEO Terry Gallagher, Jr., and Senior Vice President of Governmental & External Affairs Mary Szarmach, continues to contribute to the legacy of Smoker Friendly’s founding family with his new appointment.
Gallagher graduated from the University of San Diego in 2007 and joined Smoker Friendly as an entry-level accountant in 2008. He continued his academic career by graduating from the University of Colorado-Denver in 2016 with a Masters in Accounting.
Gallagher advanced within Smoker Friendly to accounting analyst, lead analyst and assistant controller before accepting his latest promotion.
“I am very appreciative of the opportunity to take on this new role,” he said. “I am incredibly proud of all we’ve accomplished and the strong team we’ve built. Smoker Friendly is well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead, and I am confident that we will continue to excel.”
Smoker Friendly President Dan Gallagher added, “I’m excited for both Cameron and Jon to take this next step leading our finance and accounting team and they will be integral members of our strategic management group. Both have shown tremendous dedication and work ethic in their respective careers with Smoker Friendly.”
