“We’re trying to get at least two new stores built before the end of the year,” says Spinx construction superintendent.
Spinx Co. plans to construct an estimated $3 million convenience store in Greer, S.C., featuring energy efficient technology and space for future commercial development, Greenville Online reported.
The site is planned for 1467 S. State 101 near BMW Manufacturing Corp., on part of a 7.8-acre tract Spinx is under contract to buy, and would feature a 5,300-square-foot building and 24 fueling stations. The new store would replace an existing Spinx with a Burger King to the right of the development.
“Long term, we would probably redevelop the Burger King … so it would also give them the chance to update to a new modern facility,” Greg Minton, vice president of real estate company Enigma Corp. told Greenville Online. “It will give us both a chance to put out our latest and greatest.”
The remaining 3.25 acres could become home to restaurants or retailers. Design plans submitted to the city of Greer show possibilities ranging from a 7,200-square-feet bank with drive-through services to a 220-seat restaurant, Greenville Online reported.
The c-store’s new prototype design would not only feature energy-efficient technology, but also a modern steel and glass design, according to Spinx construction superintendent Tony Peters.
The high-end style store is expected to feature foodservice options such as pizza, salads and its healthier ‘Fresh on the Go’ program.
Spinx officials hope to begin building the site later this spring, but first must submit final blueprints and a rezoning application.
“We’re trying to get at least two new stores built before the end of the year. This is one of our fastest moving sites, so in order for me to have this store open by the end of the year, my goal is to start by May,” Peters said.
