Through the "Give a Pint, Get a Pint" program, the chain will be handing out vouchers throughout New York for a free pint of ice cream.

As a part of the “Give a Pint, Get a Pint” program, Stewart’s Shops will be offering Red Cross blood donors vouchers for a free pint of ice cream or gelato throughout June. Presenting donors at blood drives in 26 counties across upstate New York will be eligible to receive the voucher, which can be redeemed at any Stewart’s Shops location.

Summer is a challenging time to collect enough blood to meet the needs of patients. Many regular donors are on vacations, off of work or just out enjoying the beautiful weather. As a response, the American Red Cross and Stewart’s Shops are incentivizing donors with a sweet treat.

Every day, the Red Cross must collect enough blood to meet the needs of accident and burn victims; heart surgery and organ transplant patients; and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease. Someone needs blood every two seconds, and each donation can help to save up to three lives. The need for blood is constant and is only available through the generosity of donors.

The Red Cross is looking for donations from people of all backgrounds to meet collection needs. The Red Cross needs to collect about 12,500 blood donations and more than 2,700 platelet donations to meet the needs of patients.

Stewart’s Shops employs over 4,500 people and operates shops across New York and southern Vermont. The rich, 75-year history and success stems from the vertical integration, employee ownership and strong company values.
