The new amount represents an uptick of $3 million compared to previous years.

Stewart’s Shops and the Dake family have announced that they are increasing annual donations from $9 million to $12 million, “at a time when charities and communities need more help,” the retailer noted in a statement.

“There is no question we are living in complex economic times,” the statement continued. “Because of our efficiency and hardworking employees, who we call partners, Stewart’s is stable and equipped to navigate these uncertain times.”

Today, Stewart’s 400 shops serve communities across upstate New York, Vermont and New Hampshire. The retailer decided to share more from the Stewart’s and the family foundation as it expands to serve more communities.

“The Dake family is happy to increase their contribution to support all Stewart’s communities,” said Susan Dake, president of the Stewart’s Foundation. “We recognize that our loyal customers and the hard work of Stewart’s partners are the reason for Stewart’s success and our ability to give.”

Stewart’s and the Dake family believe the increase in charitable giving will continue to make its communities stronger.
