“We look forward to bringing affordable, quality, healthy options – from local produce to our newly re-packaged private label line – to Roseville and the surrounding communities,” says Sunflower CEO.

Sunflower Farmers Market, the full-service natural and organic grocer famous for “serious food at silly prices,” plans to open its first store in the California market.

The location at 424 Roseville Square is set to open on May 11, 2011 at 7 a.m and plans to celebrate its grand opening with savings, giveaways, kids’ activities, vendor booths and more.

Sunflower Farmers Market currently has 33 stores throughout six Southwestern states, but this is Sunflower’s first foray into California. The new store is also expected to give the local economy a boost by bringing at least 100 jobs to Roseville.

“We’re incredibly excited about opening our first store in California,” said Sunflower CEO Chris Sherrell. “We look forward to bringing affordable, quality, healthy options – from local produce to our newly re-packaged private label line – to Roseville and the surrounding communities.”

Sunflower Farmers Market offers affordable all-natural and organic products. Sunflower’s goal is clear in the company’s motto, “Serious Food…Silly Prices.” The new Roseville location aims to continue this concept by offering fresh, local produce, all-natural meats and seafood, a large bulk selection, plus natural living health and wellness products, all at the lowest possible prices.

Roseville’s grand opening festivities will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m., and doors are set to open at 7am. Grand opening events will continue throughout the day with terrific savings in every department. Prizes include a free reusable shopping bag filled with healthy groceries for the first 200 customers to make a purchase, valued at over $50; a free reusable grocery bag with purchase to the first 10,000 shoppers; live music; vendor booths, kids’ activities and more.

In addition, the new store plans to continue Sunflower’s commitment to eco-friendly practices and initiatives. The market utilizes energy efficient light fixtures and occupancy sensors, recycled and refurbished equipment, cases and fixtures, and water-saving devices like sensor operated sinks and a hot water reclaim tank.
