Sunoco APlus  Convenience Stores and XYIENCE, the maker of Xenergy, the official energy drink of the UFC, are inviting mixed martial arts (MMA) fans to meet XYIENCE team athlete Matt “The Terror” Serra.  The former UFC welterweight champion is scheduled to sign autographs at the Sunoco APlus located at 2601 Penrose Avenue in Philadelphia on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 4 – 5:30 p.m.

The event coincides with UFC133: Evans vs. Ortiz scheduled for later that evening at the Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia.

Serra, a Long Island, N.Y., resident, is the first American promoted to black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Renzo Gracie.  In addition to being a professional athlete, he owns and operates Serra Jiu-Jitsu Academies on Long Island. According to Serra, events like this are important for the growth of his sport on the East Coast.

“In my years as an athlete and coach, I’ve watched MMA literally change people’s lives by teaching people discipline, focus and building confidence,” said Serra. “I have been lucky to discover MMA and to fight in the UFC. At events like this, when I can personally connect with local fans, it’s an opportunity keep the momentum going for MMA and to help people understand more about our great sport.”
