A former Gas City, Porter South TA 
now offers more parking and diesel fueling lanes for highway drivers.
TravelCenters of America LLC (TA) has completed the renovations and rebranding of its newest TA travel center at Exit 22B off I-94, 1441 West U.S. 20, Porter, Ind.
The location was previously operated as Gas City, and was purchased by TA in May 2011.
“We call this location ‘Porter South’ because it is on the south side of I-94, opposite our existing ‘Porter’ TA,” said Tom O’Brien, president and CEO of TA. “The addition of Porter South allows us to provide an additional 220 parking spaces and 10 diesel fueling lanes for drivers on this very busy stretch of highway. Porter will continue to serve customer needs as a full-service TA, with the cleanest showers on the highway, a fully-stocked travel store, full-service restaurant, and a variety of fast food options. Porter South will supplement it.”
A shuttle-bus service is operating to carry customers between Porter and Porter South. Improvements at the Porter South location included:
• Parking lot repair and resurfacing
• Addition of Shell-branded gasoline
• UltraONE Rewards Program kiosk and swiping system
• Environmental upgrades to the diesel fueling system
• Building enhancements and reimaging
The Porter South TA offers drivers many amenities including: a fully stocked travel store, 10 diesel fuel lanes, CAT scale; WiFi; TripPak; check cashing; faxing/copying; and ATM services. Additional amenities, including new high-speed diesel pumps at all diesel lanes and a Subway Restaurant are expected to be added soon.
