Target shoppers will soon have the ability to pay using a cell phone app.

Target Corp. on Tuesday announced plans to introduce its own mobile payment service in Target stores, allowing shoppers to pay via an app on their mobile phones.

According to a report by Reuters, while the launch is expected to be this year the exact timing was not specified.

Reuters first reported Target was building its own mobile payment service in December 2015. Target’s decision to introduce its mobile payment service follows rival Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which launched Wal-Mart Pay in December 2015.
