West Texas-based The Kent Cos., which operates the Kent Kwik retail brand, has announced its acquisition of Whit’s Grocery, a Midland Texas staple that has served its community since 1983.
“Locally owned and deeply cherished, Whit’s has always stood for friendly service, great food and that unmistakable hometown spirit,” the Kent Cos. noted in a statement. “It’s more than just a convenience store — it’s a piece of Midland’s community, and we’re beyond grateful to be part of its next chapter.”
The Kent Cos. statement continued to thank the loyal customers that have supported Whit’s over the years, while reaffirming its commitment to preserving its charm.
“We know how much this store means to you, and we’re approaching the next chapter with a lot of care and respect,” the statement read. “Our goal is to keep what makes Whit’s special while doing our part to serve the community just as it always has.”
The Kent Cos. are comprised of multiple entities including Kent Kwik Convenience stores, Mr. Payroll Check Cashing, Rustic Café, Huddle House, Baskin Robbins, Kent Car Washes, Kent Lubrication Centers, WesTex Urgent Cares, Prince Signs, Kent Tire Co. and Kent Fuels.
