Tony HuppertBy Tony Huppert, CEO, Team Oil Inc.

I recently returned from a meeting in Las Vegas. As I sat and watched the Fremont Experience light show highlighting the greatness of the USA while enjoying America the Beautiful being played, pride overwhelmed me. The pride overshadowed the negativity one hears every day from the political parties or the special interest groups. Each focusing in on what ‘they feel’ is wrong with OUR country. The ‘melting pot’ of cultures in the U.S., has come to a low simmer.

It is easier to preach negative ideology than to look at the positive. For some reason different groups want to hold on to the culture of their past with the freedom of the present, which jeopardizes everyone’s freedom in the future. To divide and conquer has been used by enemies as long as humans have been in existence.

The same goes for employees. It is easy to get hung up on a negative action of an employee while forgetting about their positive actions. Negative actions can be corrected sometimes but positive actions will be lost with a negative response.

Our country and employees have one thing in common, “If you focus on the worst you will receive what you expect.”
