“This year, we were very proud to expand our fundraising efforts to all 425 of our stores throughout eight states,” says CEO of VPS.

The final numbers are in and VPS Convenience Store Group has raised $196,526 for the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation this year to support pediatric cancer research at ranked children’s cancer hospitals in each of the eight states where stores are located.

All 425 locations under the VPS umbrella conducted an in-store “icon” campaign and VPS also raised funds through a vendor-supported bowl-a-thon event in Indianapolis.

Jeff Gordon lent his celebrity status to the VPS chain-wide campaign by producing radio spots for each name brand and by personally tweeting and posting status updates on his Facebook page throughout the campaign. Pepsi Max (JG car sponsor) supported the VPS campaign by tagging local radio spots in select markets with the JG PSA and by funding a $1 off coupon with each icon sold in VPS stores.

In the 11-year history working with Jeff Gordon, VPS has raised nearly $2.2 million dollars for childhood cancer research and treatment.

“We’ve had a terrific partnership with Jeff Gordon and the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research through our Village Pantry Stores for the past 10 years. This year, we were very proud to expand our fundraising efforts to all 425 of our stores throughout eight states,” said Jeff Turpin, Chairman and CEO of VPS.

VPS Stores are located in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

“VPS has been instrumental in helping the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation make a difference in the lives of children with cancer.  Their support and outreach are bringing us that much closer to finding a cure.  We are very thankful for their dedication and we look forward to a continued partnership with them,” said Jeff Gordon.

VPS Convenience Store Group, headquartered in Wilmington, N.C., operates 425 stores in eight states under six brand names including Scotchman, Village Pantry, Li’l Cricket, Young’s Food Stores, Everyday Shops and Next Door Stores.
