Super WawaThe c-store chain is on track to double its presence in the Sunshine State in the next two years.

Wawa is continuing its Florida expansion with plans to open three stores in Volusia County, Fla., the Daytona Beach News Journal reported.

The stores, two of which are “Coming Soon” in Port Orange and one in Orange City, mark Wawa’s first in the Volusia-Flagler area. Currently Wawa has 50 stores in the state of Florida, with plans to double that number over the next two years, at a rate of 25 stores a year spread throughout the Orlando, Tampa, Southwest Coast and Daytona markets.

The Port Orange store at 1031 Dunlawton Ave. is under construction and when finished will measure 5,537 square feet, plus a 16-pump gas station. In Orange City, the Wawa gas station and c-store under construction at 2522 Enterprise Road is estimated to cost $1 million and will measure 6,000-square-feet, plus 12 gas pumps, according to the Daytona Beach News Journal.

The second location in Port Orange, scheduled for construction at 1740 Dunlawton Ave., recently won approval from the city.

A chain of more than 650 convenience retail stores (over 400 offering gasoline), Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia and as of July of 2012, central Florida.
