This summer Wawa is making it easy for customers to donate blood by offering a blood drive at more than 25 Wawa sites to help the American Red Cross save lives.

The blood drive, already underway, will continue until Aug. 28 in four of Wawa’s operating states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia.

Last year, more than 2,961 pints of blood were donated by associates and customers chain-wide during Wawa’s 2009 drives. Wawa associates have supported the American Red Cross blood drives for more than two decades. During the past five years, more than 10,000 pints of blood have been collected at Wawa’s chain wide blood drives, which are open to the public and staffed by Wawa volunteers.

A single blood donation can help as many as three people. As an added incentive, successful donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Wawa iced tea or fruit drink.

Wawa operates more than 570 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
