Scott Zaremba honored as first-in-the-nation E15 marketer.

During the opening session on the second day of the Renewable Fuels Association’s 18th annual National Ethanol Conference, Bob Dinneen, RFA’s President and CEO, honored Scott Zaremba, President of Zarco 66 Inc. and Zarco 66 American Fuels, with “The Industry Award” in recognition of his vision and commitment to expanding fuel choices for his customers in Kansas.

In July of 2012, Scott Zaremba became the first petroleum marketer in the U.S. to offer E15.  Since that time, he has expanded E15 availability to seven stations throughout Kansas.

“Scott is a trailblazer,” said Bob Dinneen, who presented the award to Zaremba. “He has vision, know-how, and most important, passion.  It is never easy being first-in-the-nation at anything, but it is particularly challenging when introducing an entirely new fuel.  Scott is committed to offering E15 in the name of a stronger, more energy independent country.”

Zaremba explained, “I’m proud to be able to offer my customers a choice at the pump, especially when that choice helps Kansas drivers save money, clean the environment and support ethanol production jobs across the state of Kansas and throughout the Midwest.  In Kansas, our state motto talks about getting to the stars through difficulties.  Introducing E15 is a good example of blazing a new trail despite regulatory delays and resistance to break our addition to foreign oil.  E15 is a win-win in my book.  It is part of a domestic solution to energy independence.”

Zaremba’s involvement in the wholesale energy business began while growing up in the family business started by his father in 1968.  After attending Kansas State University, he returned to the family business and began establishing retail locations to complement the existing wholesale energy business.  As the company continues to grow, Zaremba has turned his efforts toward creating renewable energy distribution locations in an effort to decrease dependency on foreign oil.  He opened the first location of its kind in Lawrence, Kan., garnering a Blue Skyways partner award in 2008.  Zaremba is at the forefront of developing renewable energy distribution locations through innovation with his manufacturers and suppliers to create state-of-the art facilities. He currently is the president of the Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Association of Kansas and also serves as the vice chairman of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America’s South Central Region. With his vision for renewable energy, he continues to raise awareness of alternative fuels throughout the U.S.

On June 8, 2012, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gave final approval for the sale and use of E15 ethanol blends in light duty vehicles made since 2001. This represents nearly two-thirds of all vehicles on the road and nearly three-fourths of all miles driven.

Zaremba blends Zarco 66 fuel options right at each of his stations. Pumps offering E15 with the proper labeling will also be offering E10 and other ethanol blends via technology known as blender pumps. These pumps allow consumers to choose the fuel option that is best for them and their vehicle.
