For the fifth year in a row, Stewart’s Shops has won the award for the Best Milk in New York State. To celebrate, the chain is offering double punches on its Milk Club Card throughout this entire week.
“That means if you purchase a half gallon of milk, you receive two punches,” the retailer noted in a statement. “If you purchase a gallon of milk, you receive four punches on your card. Don’t miss out and take advantage of this deal while it lasts.”
This year’s award was announced at the New York State Fair in Syracuse by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
Scientists at Cornell University evaluated milk entries for flavor and quality, placing a particular emphasis on how well they hold up throughout their shelf life.
“For Stewart’s customers, that means you are bringing home the best tasting and highest quality milk in New York State,” the statement continued.
Stewart’s credited its success to the hard work and dedication of its 21 local family-run farms, which collect more than 25,000 gallons of milk every day from about 2,900 cows.
“With our farthest farm being just 36 miles from our plant, you cannot get fresher milk,” the statement read. “Our milk goes from farm to shop coolers in 48 hours, thanks to the Stewart’s dairy team at our Greenfield Center plant.”
The award is part of the New York State Dairy Products contest, which is part of a highly-competitive program run by Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
Today, Stewart’s owns and operates more than 400 convenience stores across upstate New York, Vermont and western New Hampshire.
