Corner Pantry celebrated the opening of its latest c-store in Camden, S.C., on Sept. 23, which was met with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a day of festivities aimed at “celebrating Corner Pantry’s continued investment in the local community,” the retailer noted in a statement.
City of Camden Mayor Vincent Sheheen attended the ribbon cutting ceremony alongside representatives of the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce to welcome the chain’s fifth Camden location.
“The City of Camden is thrilled to welcome this new, state-of-the-art Corner Pantry to the Burndale area of our city,” said Mayor Sheheen. “When businesses invest and thrive in Camden, our entire community benefits.”
Corner Pantry Owner David Tucker reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the local community with check presentations to the City of Camden police and fire departments, Camden High School, North Central High School and Pine Tree Hill Elementary during a ribbon cutting ceremony. Tucker presented $4,000 checks to each school and organization, totaling $20,000 in donations.
“We’re excited to welcome Corner Pantry to our community and are grateful for their generous support. Strong local partnerships mean everything to our district, and this is such a great example of how our community comes together to lift up our students and schools,” said Kershaw County School District Superintendent Dr. Harrison Goodwin.
The day’s festivities featured $2.50/gallon gas, free Hunt Brothers Pizza, free hot dogs and chili dogs, TV giveaways and trivia with gift card prizes. The event also included local vendors with free samples, a live DJ, racing simulators, Budweiser dune buggies, children’s ball pits and discounted deals and specials inside the store.
“Today is all about celebrating our newest location, but more importantly, it’s about our deepening connection to the Camden community and giving back to those who go above and beyond for it each day,” said Tucker. “As our tagline says, ‘It just feels right’ to support local schools and first responders while simultaneously providing our customers a safe and clean environment for convenient gas, food and beverage service.”
Corner Pantry serves the Midlands of South Carolina with 26 c-store locations, as well as commercial fueling, fuel transportation and fuel delivery services. The company acquired Speaks Oil Co. in Camden in 2023.
