The retailer teamed up with Hershey to introduce limited-time food and experiences.

Rutter’s has partnered with Hershey for a takeover of its 1747 Bar & Lounge locations throughout November. Throughout the month, customers can find a Hershey-inspired college game-day experience featuring themed décor, exclusive drink specials and college football watch parties.

The month-long promotion will also give 1747 Bar & Lounge guests the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win $10,000.

In addition to the 1747 Bar & Lounge takeover, Rutter’s is bringing two iconic Hershey brands to its menu: Dot’s Pretzels and Reese’s. Offerings include the Pretzel Crunch Chicken Melt; Pretzel Crunch Burger Melt; Pretzel Crunch Mac & Cheese; Pretzel Crunch Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese; Peanut Butter Burger; and Peanut Butter Pickle Dog.

“Rutter’s is always looking for new ways to bring exciting experiences to our guests, and partnering with Hershey during college football season gives us a fun opportunity to do just that,” said Connor Fenix, events coordinator. “From watching the games at 1747 Bar & Lounge to enjoying limited-time menu creations inspired by Hershey brands, we’re excited to give our guests another reason to stop by this November.”

Rutter’s operates 94 locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. With roots dating back to 1747, Rutter’s 279-year history makes it the oldest vertically integrated food company in the U.S.

Chain to Watch

In October, CStore Decisions named Rutter’s as an Established Chain to Watch as it enters new markets, innovates with food, invests in technology and introduces new concepts that merge convenience retail, foodservice and entertainment.

“The company has earned industry recognition for its store design, extensive foodservice programs and operational innovation, all while maintaining a strong family-owned culture and a 278-year heritage that resonates with customers and communities across the region,” said Sydney Durand, marketing and communications coordinator for Rutter’s.

Rutter’s larger-format stores, expansion, bar and lounge concept, loyalty app and foodservice innovation all contribute to its status as a Chain to Watch. Additionally, the chain has good relationships with its vendor partners.

“Obviously, we know a lot of this wouldn’t be possible without them and their support, and we’ve been able to work with them to do things that others haven’t,” said Ashley Donnelly, director of marketing and communications for Rutter’s.

Most importantly, however, Rutter’s is listening to its customers.

“The whole reason we have 1747 Bar & Lounge is because we’ve heard our customers say they want more and they want more experience, and we’re giving them more and we’re meeting them where they want,” said Donnelly.
