Buc-ee’s has announced the upcoming opening of its newest Texas travel stop, located in San Marcos. The store will open its doors on Aug. 12 at 6 a.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony following at 10 a.m.
The location, according to a statement from the retailer, will span 74,000 square feet and feature 128 fueling positions.
San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson and County Judge Ruben Becerra will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
With the opening of its San Marcos location, Buc-ee’s will operate 57 stores across the U.S., with locations in Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
“The Buc-ee’s mantra is ‘exceed expectations,’ and this San Marcos location is a special step for us in that regard. The San Marcos store will help us provide the ultimate Buc-ee’s experience to all I-35 travelers, north and southbound!” said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s.
Buc-ee’s San Marcos will create more than 200 jobs, the statement continued, offering starting pay well above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% 401(k) match and three weeks of paid vacation.
New and Existing Markets
As Buc-ee’s continued to build out its footprint in its home state, it is also growing to new markets. In July, the chain began construction on its first travel stop in Wisconsin, located in Oak Creek.
The site, according to NBC 5 Chicago, was approved by the city last year, with the chain expecting more than 10,000 vehicles to visit the Buc-ee’s daily.
The travel stop will be located roughly 15 miles from Milwaukee about 77 miles from Chicago, marking the closest Buc-ee’s to the Windy City.
The City of Oak Creek Government released a statement on Facebook, noting that “there’s a driveway entrance to the site, fencing around the area and several large pieces of equipment are now in place to begin the groundwork. Activity at the site will pick up by August and it will remain an active construction site until it’s scheduled opening.”
As of now, the post continued, the site is expected to open in early 2028.
The Buc-ee’s, which will be located on the corner of I-94 and East Elm Road, will stand at 74,000 square feet. It will feature the chain’s famous foodservice offerings, including jerky, brisket, Beaver Nuggets and more. Plus, in typical Buc-ee’s fashion, customers will find a wide array of merchandise and Buc-ee’s-themed apparel, a full bakery, dozens of fuel pumps and notoriously clean bathrooms.
