Casey’s is setting up shop in Tiffin, Iowa and will be opening the doors to a new store by this summer, reports the Iowa City Press-Citizen.
For the past few weeks, Casey’s has owned and operated the Suburban BP Amoco in Tiffin. By the end of the summer, the store will change the signs and renovate the space to add a kitchen, said Casey’s CFO Bill Walljasper.
“Tiffin is one of those communities that fits very well into the model of Casey’s General Stores,” he said, explaining that the chain generally roots itself in rural communities. “But at the same time, we also think this is a community that will continue to grow,” Walljasper said. “We felt it was a real nice fit for us.”
The company has stated that the goal for 2007 is to acquire 50 stores and build 10. In 2006, the company also added 100,000 square feet to its distribution center, allowing it to serve at least 1,000 new stores.
