New signs are hanging from Flying J’s diesel pumps, and they do not bode well for credit card giant Visa.

The chain of travel centers announced that starting today it would no longer accept Visa for diesel purchases. The decision came when the chain decided that it no longer wanted to buckle under the increasing processing fees that came with accepting the card.

While Visa is no longer accepted at the diesel pumps, Flying J is still accepting the card in its c-stores and at its gasoline pumps.

“We’re trying to save our customers more,” Daniel Cordner, who oversees sales in Missouri and Illinois for THC fleetcard services, a sales transaction subsidiary of the Flying J, told Land Line Magazine. According to Cordner, Visa chose not to lower its costly transaction fees. “We are still ready to welcome them back with open arms.”
