Redbox is spreading into 7-Eleven stores nationwide as it continues its focus on the c-store market, according to online video industry publication VideoBusiness.com.
Starting this month and continuing through next year, Redbox will be installing its DVD rental machines into 2,600 7-Eleven locations nationwide, boosting its presence beyond the regional c-store giants like Maverik, Thorntons and Royal Farms.
The convenience channel represents a third major expansion phase for Redbox, which first pushed into McDonald’s restaurants before recently pushing into the mass merchant/drug/grocery business with partners like Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Albertson’s, according to VideoBusiness.com.
.Redbox kiosks are now in more than 12,000 locations nationwide. Since launching in 2002 at 12 McDonald’s, the company has been on an impressive growth trajectory.
