Stewart’s Shops has kicked off its annual Holiday Match campaign, which continues through Christmas Day, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
Stewart’s Shops, which operates 327 c-stores in Upstate New York and Vermont will match individual donations made to charity in any of its convenience stores.
In 2008, the Holiday Match total reached $1.1 million.
“Every year I am awed by the generosity of our customers. We are expecting another year with well over 1,000 applications for grants because of the tight economy. The good news is I believe our customers will rise to the challenge,” said Stewart’s Foundation President Susan Law Dake.
Local organizations benefiting children can pick up an application throughout the holidays at any Stewart’s location. The deadline for submission is Jan. 31.
