Kwik Trip Opens Two New CNG Stations

Kwik Trip is planning some 10-15 CNG locations in 2014.

Kwik Trip Inc., a Wisconsin-based chain of convenience stores, has continued development of its industry leading fueling infrastructure for natural gas vehicles in the first quarter of 2014.

In January, CNG sites in Eagan, Minn. and De Pere, Wis. were opened. Locations in Waterloo, Iowa; Wausau, Wis. and Menomonie, Wis. will also open in the coming months.

Kwik Trip opened its first CNG location in April of 2012 and has since then continued to develop a functional CNG fueling infrastructure at 22 locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Currently, there are operational CNG Kwik Trip stations in La Crosse, Wis. (2); Sturtevant, Wis.; Rochester, Minn.; Oshkosh, Wis. (2); Minnesota City, Minn.; Owatonna, Minn.; Pewaukee, Wis.; Grand Chute, Wis.; Sheboygan, Wis.; Eagan, Minn.; Cedar Falls, Iowa; Verona, Wis.; St. Michael, Minn.; Mankato, Minn.; Baldwin, Wis.; Janesville, Wis.; Oak Creek, Wis.; Waukesha, Wis.; New Berlin, Wis. and De Pere, Wis. Pricing at each of the stations is between $1.59 and $1.89 per GGE.

Plans to continue the development of a natural gas infrastructure will continue in 2014 and will include 10-15 new CNG locations, as the company looks to expand into new markets.

As a privately held company, Kwik Trip has taken on the task to expand its fuel offerings using only its own internal resources and expertise. By bringing natural gas to the market, Kwik Trip has positioned itself to provide a better, more affordable fueling solution to the public.

Kwik Trip believes that in order to be successful, it needs to drive both natural gas vehicle (NGV) adoption and simultaneously build a functional infrastructure for its guests. Kwik Trip will leverage its vertical integration model to help foster the growth of NGVs in its market. Kwik Trip’s own distribution fleet, Convenience Transportation, travels 18 million miles on an annual basis and now owns over 50 natural gas powered vehicles. Through this fleet, all classes and sizes of vehicles are being tested, evaluated, and promoted, based on the company’s real world experiences.

Headquartered in La Crosse, Wis., Kwik Trip operates in excess of 400 stores in three states—Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.
