Corner Store celebrated the grand opening of its newest store in Kingwood, a community located in Houston, Texas, on Thursday with giveaways and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The store is located at 19506 North Park I59.
At a ribbon-cutting Thursday, Pete Linton, regional vice president for CST Brands, Corner Store’s parent company, presented Principal Lisa Drabing of Kingwood Park High School with a check for $5,000 to show the company’s commitment to the community.
“At Corner Store, we want to be team players in the communities we serve,” said Kim Lubel, president and CEO of CST Brands. “Our Team Members (employees) build strong relationships with customers, and we are excited to meet and get to know the wonderful people of Kingwood.”
Officials from the Kingwood Chamber of Commerce and students from Kingwood Park High School attended the ceremony. Patrons who visited the store from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. walked away with free samples of fresh-baked, Fresh Choices sausage kolaches and cookies, a free Flavors2Go fountain drink or Cibolo Mountain coffee and coupons.
At 4,683 square feet, the store features indoor dining, a car wash, Redbox and 14 fueling stations with E85 and diesel fuel. Sheri Gray will serve as store manager.
This year, CST Brands will continue adding to its network of 1,046 stores throughout Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona and California. More than half of CST’s U.S. stores are located in Texas, one of the fastest-growing states in the nation.
The new stores are larger with ample parking, colorful and spacious design, and a wider variety of food options. Most are equipped with kitchens to prepare breakfast tacos with homemade tortillas, empanadas, whoopie pies, cookies, donuts, savory kolaches and other items in the store’s signature food line, Fresh Choices.
This winter, Corner Store has several new offerings featuring peppermint whoopie bites with chocolate cake and peppermint blast sprinkles and a red velvet whoopie pie with cream cheese icing. Hot kolaches with maple-flavored premium pork breakfast sausage are available for breakfast, and for an afternoon snack, try our Picadillo Norteño puff pies with seasoned ground beef, carrots and potatoes stuffed inside buttery, flaky pie dough.
Other options include grilled sausages and all-beef hot dogs with white or wheat buns, fresh-cut fruit and salads. In addition, the store will carry signature products such as Fresh Choices nuts and snack mixes, U Force energy and sport drinks, Cibolo Mountain coffee, FC bottled soda and Flavors2Go fountain drinks.
With nearly 1,900 sites in the United States and Canada and $12.8 billion in revenues in 2013, Corner Store’s parent company, CST Brands, is the second-largest publicly-traded fuel and convenience merchandise retailer in North America.
In the U.S., CST’s Corner Stores sell Valero fuels and a line of more than 200 signature products. In Canada, CST is the exclusive provider of Ultramar fuels and its Dépanneur du Coin and Corner Stores sell signature Transit Café coffee and pastries.
